Guizhou sees impressive GDP growth in 2016-20

Southwest China's Guizhou province recently released its economic data from 2016 to 2020. According to the statistics, Guizhou's economy maintained a rapid increase, and its growth rate ranked among the nation's best.

During the past five years, Guizhou's GDP grew at an average annual rate of 8.5 percent, 2.8 percentage points higher than the national level. GDP increased from 1.05 trillion yuan ($163.2 billion) in 2015 to 1.78 trillion yuan in 2020, and the per capita GDP increased from 29,956 yuan in 2015 to 46,433 yuan in 2019.

Guizhou committed to poverty alleviation during the five-year period, relocating 2 million impoverished people and helping the 9.23 million recorded impoverished people in the province to shake off poverty.

Guizhou's 66 impoverished counties were all lifted out of poverty, and the per capita disposable income of permanent rural residents increased from 7,387 yuan in 2015 to 11,642 yuan in 2020.

Guizhou's added value in agriculture had an average annual increase of 6.2 percent from 2016 to 2020. In 2020, the output volume of vegetables and mushrooms increased by 64.1 percent from 2015, while fruits increased by 187.1 percent, and tea increased by 113.8 percent.

The average annual increase of Guizhou's added value in industries above a designated size was 8.6 percent from 2016 to 2020, which was 3.1 percentage points higher than the national level.

From 2016 to 2019, the annual increase of tourists was 31.8 percent, and the yearly increase of tourism revenue was 36.8 percent.

During the past five years, more than 15,000 major companies started to use cloud services, and the new economy occupied 20 percent of GDP. In 2019, Guizhou's increased digital economy rate was 22.1 percent, ranking first in China for five years.
