The fifth plenary of the 12th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Guizhou Committee started in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Jan 19.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Guangqi, vice-chairperson of the CPPCC Guizhou Committee, reported the situation of proposals submitted since the fourth plenary of the 12th CPPCC Guizhou Committee.

Zhang said that over the past year, the committee received 838 proposals, 803 of which were put on record. Among the 803 proposals, 259 were submitted by groups and 544 were submitted by CPPCC members.

By the end of December 2021, all 803 of the proposals had been dealt with. They involve high-quality economic development, socialist democracy, core values of socialism, improvement of people's wellbeing, and environmental protection.

The CPPCC Guizhou Committee has also improved its method of collecting and handling proposals. Since the fourth plenary of the 12th CPPCC Guizhou Committee, the committee has been collecting suggestions for proposals from all sectors of society, government departments, research institutions and CPPCC committees at the municipal and prefectural levels.

The CPPCC Guizhou Committee has also screened key suggestions and arranged for different party groups, special committees and all sectors of society to prepare for the proposals.

By cooperating with the general offices of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and Guizhou Provincial Government, the CPPCC Guizhou Committee has followed and implemented the plenary speeches and comments from government officials.

The CPPCC Guizhou Committee has also commended outstanding individuals on their work on proposals and considered the handling of proposals when assessing the performance of provincial government departments.
