Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group, a State-owned enterprise based in Southwest China's Guizhou province, aims to take advantage of the West China Development Program in the new area and achieve breakthroughs in both asset size and business revenue.

He Guangliang, president of the group, said that the group's supply of wet-process phosphoric acid ranks first in the world, exceeding the combined volume of the next three largest holders.

In 2021, the group's total industrial output value was 34 billion yuan ($5.35 billion), a year-on-year increase of 32.7 percent.

According to He, the group's production capacity of phosphate fertilizer, phosphate compound fertilizer with high-quality and high-concentration accounts for 40 percent of the national total, contributing to China's grain planting and production.

The group also utilizes fluorine and silicon in phosphate ores to expand its industrial chain of phosphate chemistry. Its anhydrous hydrogen fluoride won the national manufacturing product award of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2021.

In addition to boosting its competitiveness, the group also saw progress in phosphogypsum residue treatment. So far, the group has invested more than 3 billion yuan in R&D of phosphogypsum residue utilization, and will continue to invest 500-700 million yuan per year in the future.

In 2020, more than 65 percent of the group's phosphogypsum residue was utilized, and the figure increased to 70 percent in 2021, higher than most phosphate chemical companies around the world.

In December 2021, the group cooperated with CATL Battery to launch three battery manufacturing projects in Guizhou. Relying on Guizhou's abundant phosphorus ore resources, the company will seize the opportunity to develop new energy materials.
