Guizhou, Hubei cooperate in university development

Wuhan University in Central China's Hubei province and Guizhou Normal University in Southwest China's Guizhou province signed a cooperation agreement on June 27 to share their advanced achievements.

The agreement will allow both universities to give full play to their advantages and cooperate in discipline development, student education, teaching staff member development, and sci-tech research.

Both universities will co-develop disciplines and interdisciplines, and explore the sharing of high-level talent according to discipline development needs.

They will explore new modes of cultivating undergraduates, master's and doctoral students, and cooperate in education reform, course development, and textbook writing. Wuhan University will recommend doctoral students to obtain employment at Guizhou Normal University.

Both sides will cooperate in advanced teacher training, mutual visits, and exchanges of senior teachers.

Focusing on rural vitalization, big data and environmental protection, both universities will cooperate in research and platform development so as to tackle key sci-tech problems and apply for national sci-tech research projects.

Xiao Yuanping, Party secretary of Guizhou Normal University, said that the agreement will support the university's high-quality development. All departments and colleges should utilize Wuhan University's resources and implement the agreement as soon as possible.

Dou Xiankang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of Wuhan University, said that the development of an advanced nation in science and technology requires the participation of more "double first-class" universities.

Dou said he hopes both universities will expand room of cooperation after further exchanges and form a normalized cooperation and exchange mechanism to promote the development of higher education in China.
