Guizhou's specialties become livestream best-sellers

The Foreign Affairs Office of the Guizhou Province and Oriental Selection – an e-commerce livestream brand of Koolearn – held a livestream activity in Guizhou's Xijiang One-thousand-household Miao Village on Sept 3 to sell specialties from Guizhou and Mekong countries.

The livestream lasted for nine hours and received 1.24 million orders worth 58 million yuan ($8.36 million), including 50.5 million yuan in Guizhou specialties and 7.5 million yuan in products from Mekong countries.

Livestreamers from Oriental Selection were dressed in traditional ethnic costumes and introduced the customs and intangible heritage items of Guizhou's Miao ethnic group.

They also introduced snacks, grain, oil, seasonings, and hand-made silver ornaments from Guizhou and Mekong countries, teaching netizens about Guizhou's tourism attractions and allowing them to purchase specialties from Guizhou and Mekong countries.

The livestream received more than 10 million views, and 42 products were sold out that day. Guizhou's high mountain tea received 39,000 orders, cured streaky pork received 20,000 orders, and cattle beef received 12,000 orders.

The products of Mekong countries were also popular among customers. Cambodian fragrant rice received 30,000 orders, Cambodian cashew nuts received 17,000 orders, and Vietnamese coffee received 14,000 orders.

Guizhou will use the livestream to help companies and products go global and expand cooperation with e-commerce companies in Mekong countries.
