The two sections of the Tongzihe Bridge in Southwest China's Guizhou province were joined on Sept 29, marking the completion of 90 percent of the bridge.

The bridge is 1,422 meters long and spans 965 meters, becoming the suspension bridge with the second longest span in the province.

The construction team overcame the difficulties of steep terrain, complex construction technologies, and high risks and joined the two sections in just 94 days.

The bridge was recognized as a provincial demonstration project for green and eco-friendly construction.

When constructed, the bridge will become an essential part of the Jinsha-Renhuai-Tongzi Expressway, which will accelerate the economic and social development in northern Guizhou, promote the utilization of minerals in neighboring areas, and shorten the travel time between Renhuai and Tongzi by half.
