Chinese Ethnic and Folk Dance Competition will be held from Nov 11 to 14 in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province. With five categories, "Lotus Awards" is one of the most established professional dance competitions in China. Many famous dancers got their break after participating in ethnic and folk dance competitions including Yang Liping, who is well known for her work Dynamic Yunnan. Fifty-six works from 16 ethnic groups will enter the final competition in Guiyang this year. The competition will present gold, silver and bronze awards for the best works, choreographers and dancers. Winners will travel to the countryside of Guizhou province and perform for the local people.
