Guiyang's vegetable prices rise in Oct

The CPI of Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, rose by 0.4 percent in October compared with the previous month. The growth represents a year-on-year increase of 3 percent, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics Investigation Team in Guiyang.

Among eight major consumption categories, the price of food increased by 6.2 percent year-on-year. Food was the main factor in the consumer price increase.

The price of vegetables and pork, which decreased during the first half–year, rose in October.

With regards to rising food prices, vegetable prices increased by 24 percent, the largest increase amongst all categories. Prices of poultry and meat products went up 4.2 percent, and liquid milk and milk products saw a 21.4 percent increase.

Other consumer price measures also went up, except liquor and tobacco and transportation and communication, which fell 0.6 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively.

Compared with 36 other large and medium-sized cities in China, the CPI chain index of Guiyang in Oct surpassed 0.3 percent to reach 100.4, ranking ninth place along with Haikou and Beijing. The CPI year-on-year index of Guiyang is 103, 0.2 percent below the national average and ranking 26th overall.
