Guizhou's Zhazuo town, located in Xiuwen county of Guiyang, ranked first in the building of the province's top 100 demonstrated towns in 2013, according to the result released by the provincial government on Wednesday.

Since March this year, the provincial Department of Urban-Rural Housing, the Department of Finance and Development and the Reform Commission began to evaluate 100 towns through examining their economic development, urban construction, urban management and ecological protection.

Following Zhazuo, Yaxi in Zunyi county and Xiaozhaiba in Xifeng county took second and third place in the evaluation.

There were 24 projects under construction in Zhazuo last year and 11 projects have been completed, with a total investment of 5.9 billion yuan. It is expected that the town area could expand to 8 square kilometers with a total population of 75,000 by 2015.

Meanwhile, a modern equipment manufacturing industrial park covering an area of 200 hectares is now beginning to take shape in Xiuwen county, Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou.

Through building such a demonstration park with high technology and a complete industrial chain, the local government aims to make a gross industrial output value amounting to 50 billion yuan, finishing the 12th five-year plan in advance of its planned date.

Guizhou Tyre Co Ltd, one of the leading equipment manufacturers in Xiuwen, relocated to Zhazuo industrial park, Xiuwen prefecture. The company will invest 7.1 billion yuan in total, aiming to hit an output value of 10.6 billion yuan. And it plans to produce 12.8 million radial tires annually, with 12,000 job opportunities on offer.

The company will complete the first phase of production in July with its first tire produced in February, and the second phase will be completed by the end of this year.

"Xiuwen county is aiming to make Zhazuo the Top economic town in Guizhou", said county chief Jiang Zhilun.
