A significant strategic cooperation agreement was signed between the Guiyang municipal government and Hewlett-Packard on July 30. Both parties will join efforts to carry out a series of projects on financial database, medical database, agricultural database and a new-generation IT training base.

Some important figures gathered at the signing ceremony, including Liu Wenxin, the mayor of Guiyang, and Ye Jian, vice-president of HP.

According to the agreement, this long-term cooperation is established on the foundation of complementary advantages to benefit both parties.

It will build a comprehensive big data center relying on the platform of the Guiyang Free Trade Zone. The big data center will cover areas of international finance and trade, cross-border e-business, education and training, medical services and agriculture by using the cutting-edge technology of cloud computing, big data and mobile Internet.

What's more, HP will give support to the outsourcing and financial leasing industries in Guiyang.

Liu welcomes the HP delegation. He said: "Technology's development pace is far beyond our imagination. We have entered the big data era. The big data industry will surely bring unprecedented opportunities to Guiyang, and I am confident that it will surely drive Guiyang’s economic development and as a result realize leap-forward development."

The Guiyang municipal government always pays attention to the environment's sustainability. It put effort into the development of the cutting-edge big data industry to boost the economy, but not the traditional industry. Economic growth is important, and the environment is more important than ever before.

The big data industry is environmentally-friendly. It saves energy and reduces emissions, which can damage the environment while stimulating the economy.

Ye spoke highly of Guiyang's development in recent years. Ye said,"HP China would like to cooperate with Guiyang, broadening the scope of cooperation and providing technology and human resource support for the newly-built big data center in Guiyang."
