Colleges and universities in Guizhou province will allocate 10 percent of the total tuition each year to help students from poor families complete their studies, according to the latest management measure for Guizhou's colleges and universities.
The special support fund will be used for scholarships and grants to reduce or exempt poor student's tuition fees. All public and private universities, and technical colleges in Guizhou need to implement the measure this autumn term.
According to the new measure, universities should incorporate the special support fund into their annual budget and publish its use to the public and students.
