Zhao Kezhi, secretary of the Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee, and Chen Min'er, deputy secretary of the Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee and governor of Guizhou, met with Ma Peihua, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, on the afternoon of August 31.

Ma led a delegation team to join the seventh China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. Taking this opportunity, he looked around the general situation of Guizhou and talked with major leaders in Guizhou. Ma said: "Through taking the road of sustainable development, Guizhou has made great achievements in every aspect, such as economic development, city planning and ecological improvement. Talking about the education aspect, I have learned that Guizhou province has undertaken a series of projects, including the "9+3" project to improve the education quality in the whole province."

"I am optimistic about the China-ASEAN Education Week," Ma added. "Since the opening of this activity, China and the ASEAN have made great progress in education cooperation. We can see that the event can satisfy both parties' prospects on education exchange. I hope that the organizing committee can continue to develop the education cooperation week and innovate more forms and methods to make this event a better one."

Secretary Zhao Kezhi agreed with Ma's opinion and said,"The education week has been successfully held for six years, and I believe it will continue to bring much benefit to the development of Guizhou, as well as to education in ASEAN countries."

"In my opinion, education can help people out of poverty, so Guizhou always makes education a priority. We strive to spread 15-year compulsory education in three to five years throughout Guizhou province. Also, taking the platform of the education week, I hope that Guizhou can learn from successful education experiences in ASEAN countries and promote Guizhou's education development to a further level," said Zhao.
