The 2014 China E-Commerce Innovation and Development Summit, themed "Openness, Innovation, Merging," opened in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou province, on September 4.

The summit is a major event and the most influential one in the e-commerce field. It has been successfully held for four years.

The summit this year has drawn much more attention than ever before, gathering some top leaders in government organizations, companies, and industrial associations and committees.

The summit has received support from many major government organizations and institutions, including the National Development and Reform Commission; the Ministry of Agriculture; the General Administration of Customs; the State Administration for Industry and Commerce; the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine; and the Guizhou provincial government.

The event will provide a platform to bring people together discussing trends and the future of e-business, as well as seeking possible regulations and policies on e-business to maintain sustainable development of e-commerce.

Secretary of the Guiyang CPC committee, Chen Gang, said: "It is lovely to see that most guests have come a long way to Guizhou for this summit. E-business is booming and I have paid much attention to that. I would like to share some of my thoughts to everyone here today. First of all, e-business shall connect with social media to share data and platforms, as data is more and more valuable nowadays, especially trading data and interactive data. Also, in the long run, e-commerce shall not only pay attention to their products and supply chains, but also ensure convenient logistics and good after-sale services to customers. The development of e-commerce does not follow a simple linear model, but a comprehensive idea. E-commerce enhances cooperation with traditional industries, building a symbiotic relationship and eventually reaching a win-win situation."

Meng Qiliang, vice-governor of Guizhou province, said, e-business is a fast-moving industry with the most innovation and potential. As a new economic growth point, Guizhou attaches great importance to the development of e-business. It strives to build an e-business information platform based on the big data industry, which can build relations with many major companies and at the same time, promote the development and upgrading of Guizhou's e-business industry.
