Favorable policies bolsters agricultural development

The value Guizhou's agricultural industry in southwest China grew by 6.6 percent annually compared to 2014, while the annual growth of farmer's per capita disposable income grew by 13.1 percent.
According to the Guizhou Provincial Agricultural Committee (GPAC), the figures meant that the industry outperformed other provinces in China.
According to Liu Fucheng, head of the Guizhou provincial Agriculture Committee, the critical strategy deployment on the development of high efficient mountainous agriculture helps drive the continuous development of the rural economy.
Liu added that reforms on rural and agriculture have been deepened to promote the continuous development of competitive industries and to improve the quality of agricultural products.
In 2014, the cultivation area ratio between food and cash crops was fixed between 41 and 59 and was largely based on local advantageous resources and agricultural structural reforms.
It is reported that the cultivation areas on vegetables cover 1.28 million hectares, including 441,333 hectares of tea plantations, making it the largest crop cultivation province in China, and the third in terms of potato crop areas.
Meanwhile, the income from recreational farm and country tourism reached 2.7 billion yuan ($ 432 million) and experienced an annual growth of 108 percent.
With the construction of agricultural zones and modern agricultural development platforms a number of resources bases have taking shape in the province.
The total amount of product value of 2014 amounted to 99.3 billion yuan ($ 15.9 billion) with sales income exceeding 77.1 billion yuan ($12.3 billion).
The rapid development of electronic commerce has also contributed to the province's agriculture, with 230 million yuan ($36.8 million) being actualized on the Chinese online shopping site taobao.com.
