Guiyang eyeing elevator business

The city of Guiyang, Guizhou province has announced plans to expand its industrial scope to include elevators.

The city began construction work on its first elevator manufacturing base recently, at a cost of 510 million yuan ($80 million) for an elevator, escalator, and mechanical parking system production base for the Shanghai Edunburgh Elevator Inc.

The base will be in a modern manufacturing park at Guanshan Lake, on an area of 8.8 hectares, and for an annual production rate of 15,000 elevators within 5 years of completion, with a value of 2-billion yuan.

Shanghai Edunburgh Elevator handles elevator R&D, manufacturing, sales, installation and maintenance, with HQ in the Pujiang Industrial Zone of Shanghai, on a 7000-sq–m space.
