The China International Ethnic Folk Cultural Craft Expo will open in the Gui'an New Area of the city of Guiyang, Guizhou province on Sept 24.

The event aims to promote ethnic folk art and provide a place for communications, displays, and finance with the theme of "protection, inheritance, innovation and opening-up".

The provincial government says that crafts at the expo, which runs through Sept 29, will be categorized as collectible, boutique, art for sale to collectors or common buyers and be encouraged for sale at tourism spots, airports, and highway service areas.

There is also an e-commerce site to take advantage of the event and boost sales of Guizhou ethnic products.

The province has had nine of these exhibitions since 2006, to develop tourism products and help Guizhou prosper with its characteristic products and it is regarded as the best way to expose its folk crafts and to help industrial development.
