Finding shelter for the homeless in Guiyang

After the city of Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, was instructed the Civil Affairs Ministry to find ways to get its homeless people living out on the street into shelters, it spent 500,000 yuan ($78,000) on a shelter since this past June, with the necessary facilities and at least 200 beds, and keeping it open 24 hours a day to treat homeless people.
One of the beneficiaries, a migrant peasant worker named Liu who had been living on the street, explained the service by saying, "After a hot-water shower and a safe and sound night's sleep, it was a real delight."
Liu said that he's from Dafang county, a long way from the capital, the city has attracted a large number of migrant workers who come looking for a way to make a living and, according to one employee at the shelter, Jin Guoqiang, although at present it is only available for male workers, it does provide many kinds of help to the homeless.
