Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was ranked in the top 10 of most popular domestic tourism destinations during the Labor Day holiday from May 1 to 4, according to a survey conducted by China's largest online travel agency, Ctrip.

Guiyang, along with Beijing, Xiamen, Chongqing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Kunming, and Guangzhou were selected on the most popular domestic tourism destinations list.

According to the survey, family visitors accounted for most of the visitors at 32 percent and visits by friends accounted for 26 percent of the total. People born in the 1950s were cited as being the main contributors for tourism consumption, spending an average of 3,629 yuan ($525.39) for each trip.
