Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has put up a multitude of red five-starred flags to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

"I think it is important to create a suitable atmosphere. The national flags will make the city look more pleasing and encourage patriotism among the public," said a resident of the city.
