The 10th Guizhou Provincial Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities will be held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, from June 11 to 16, according to a press conference held on June 7.
The games, entitled "Unite and Forge Ahead in The New Era and Build A New Future for Guizhou", aim to popularize and promote Guizhou's traditional ethnic sports and select outstanding athletes to prepare for next year's 12th National Ethnic Minorities Games.
The games consist of 11 sports and 74 events in two categories: competition and performance.
The 10 competitions include dragon boat, bamboo drift, crossbow shooting, board shoe racing, swing, and national gymnastics. Each competition sets prizes for the top eight, including one first-place prize, three second-place prizes and four third-place prizes.
The performance events are divided into three categories: competition, skills and a combination of competition and skills, with 28 teams participating.
Seventeen delegations comprising about 2,000 people from nine cities and prefectures and eight colleges and universities in the province will participate in the games.
