Targeting tourists during the summer season, Guiyang City and Guian New Area have planned a series of "Super Sports Fun Season" themed activities with 115 events for sports enthusiasts of all ages from both within and outside the province.

On July 11, the Fitness Qigong Competition of the 9th Guizhou Provincial Games for the Elderly kicked off in Guiyang Sports Cultural Park, with the participating athletes all aged 55-75.

Qigong is a Chinese system of physical exercises and breathing control related to tai chi.

The competition was praised by the elderly for giving them a platform to showcase their skills and strengths, and also providing a channel to interact and exchange with other participants.

On July 15, the 2023 Qianling Mountain Speed Climbing Race (Summer Race) kicked off, with more than 120 competitors from Hubei, Zhejiang, Fujian, Yunnan, and other provinces participating.

Starting at Qianling Mountain Sports Park and ending at Daluoling Mountain (the main peak of Qianling Mountain), the track spans 6.1 kilometers and ascends to about 600 meters.

Participants described Guiyang as being very suitable for running in the summer due to its relatively moderate climate. The fresh air makes people feel refreshed and at ease.

Held on the same day as the Speed Climbing Race, the 2023 YONEX Legends' Vision Amateur Badminton Tour Guiyang Station featured categories for youth, adults, and professional players, giving play to enthusiasts of all ages and attracting 833 participants from around China.

The hosting of these sports events not only energizes the sports consumption market but also brings new economic growth points to the city. In August, the Guiyang bureau of sports plans to continue offering public sports events, enriching the summer lives of its citizens.
