Guiyang Marathon to showcase local culture with record-breaking turnout

The 2024 Guiyang Marathon will kick off on June 16 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, with 93,902 individuals registered at present.

Through a lottery draw, the event is expected to receive a record total of 52,000 participants, including 32,000 in-person participants, 7,000 more than last year. Among them, 6,000 individuals will participate in the full marathon, 12,000 in the half marathon and 14,000 in the mini marathon. In order to attract more participants, 20,000 online competition slots have been added.

The marathon route will offer a captivating journey through the city's picturesque landscapes, traversing Guanshanhu district, Baiyun district and Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone.

Starting from the Guiyang International Conference and Exhibition Center, the runners will pass through Guanshanhu Park, Yueshanhu Wetland Park, Karst Park, and Quanhu Park. Along the way, folk custom performances will be held to allow runners to experience Guizhou's ethnic charm.

Guiyang plans to operate special high-speed rail trains during the event and provide thoughtful services at Guiyangdong Railway Station and Guiyangbei Railway Station. 

Additionally, a charity run will also be launched to raise funds to support rural vitalization and sports development in Guiyang.
