The Gui'an Free Trade Zone in Guiyang reported significant achievements in high-quality development from January to August, with the total value of foreign trade imports and exports reaching 8.21 billion yuan ($1.17 billion), a 22.8 percent year-on-year increase.
The strong performance can be largely attributed to its strategic initiatives, including the implementation of industrial chain construction, supplementation, and strengthening.
By taking advantage of its status as a key national processing trade gradient transfer undertaking area, the zone has actively introduced leading enterprises, filled critical gaps, and integrated supporting resources. This has facilitated a transition from the manufacturing of components to complete machines, from short chains to full chains, and from dispersion to aggregation.
To date, the zone has signed agreements on 34 investment projects from Guangdong, with a total investment of 26.80 billion yuan. In 2024 alone, seven projects have been signed into effect, totaling 2.97 billion yuan in investment.
The zone has also been focusing on enhancing cross-border logistics channels, increasing the frequency of the Guizhou-Guangdong logistics highway card class channel, and opening the Southeast Asia two-way cross-border logistics channel via Pingxiang, Guangxi, and the "Fly-Via-Zhuhai-HK" channel.
Furthermore, efforts are being made to expand the transportation network and accelerate the construction of a three-tier transportation network system, forming a fast and accessible multimodal transport network.
As of the end of August, the Guizhou-Guangdong logistics channel had handled 301 vehicle shipments and 161 less-than-truckload shipments, transporting approximately 4,763 metric tons of goods.
In addition, the zone is committed to creating a market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment. To date, It has identified 27 key service items required by enterprises, resolved 673 issues for enterprises, and completed 1,009 agency and related service items.
