Guiyang and Cartago become sister cities

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, signed a letter of intent to establish a friendly city relationship with Cartago, Costa Rica. To date, Guiyang has established international friendly city relationships and exchanges with 30 cities.
Cartago is located in central Costa Rica, 27 kilometers from the capital, San Jose. It is the capital of Cartago province, with an elevation of 1,435 meters and an area of 287.77 square kilometers, and boasts a population of approximately 170,000. Founded in 1563, Cartago was once the capital of Costa Rica and is an important trade center and transportation hub for agricultural, livestock, and forestry products.
Guiyang and Cartago will carry out exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, tourism, education, and the humanities, benefiting both sides and striving to establish formal friendly city relations as soon as possible.
Focusing on participating countries of the Belt and Road initiative and RCEP member countries, Guiyang will continue to expand and deepen exchanges and cooperation with partner cities, supporting the high-level opening-up and high-quality development of Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area.
