Andrew makes a home for himself in Guiyang

eguiyang.com.cn|Updated: March 5, 2026

Hailing from the United States, Andrew has lived in Guiyang for 11 years. He works as a foreign language teacher at a local high school, while his wife, Vickie, runs a Tex-Mex diner in the city.

Andrew and Vickie have become witnesses to the city's growth. They have watched familiar streets transform, such as Qingyun Road, which evolved from a bustling night market into a famous leisure district filled with people. The Jiaxiu Pavilion is now popular on social media platforms, while the roadside concerts at Wenchang Pavilion fill the night air with music.

Andrew describes Guiyang as a city that naturally embraces a relaxed way of life. He sees it in the little details: lively street food stalls after work, camping tents in the parks on weekends, and laughter at late-night barbecue stands. These simple moments make him feel that this is how life is meant to be.

Andrew says he loves Guiyang and considers himself a Guiyang local.
