Southwest China's Guizhou province issued its first certificate of origin on Jan 1 after the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, or RCEP, took effect on the same day.

Anshun Royal Tea Village Co was the company to receive the certificate. According to RCEP, the company can enjoy 18,000 yuan ($2,829) in tariff reductions for exporting 299,000 yuan of tu-chung powder to Japan.

It's estimated that more than 90 percent of the tariffs – on goods trading between China, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – will be reduced to zero eventually. The certificate of origin is reportedly essential for the tariff reductions and exemption applications.

Trading companies can apply for certificates of origin from Guiyang customs online and print them out by themselves.

The reduction in tariffs enables Guizhou companies to further increase exports and expand their overseas markets.
