The Republic of Equatorial Guinea hopes to learn from China's experience in implementing sustainable development plans, said the country's vice-president Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue at the Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2023, which opened in Southwest China's Guizhou province on July 8.

At the opening ceremony of the forum, Mangue stated that the forum has made decisive contributions to key issues such as sustainable development, ecological conservation, environment, climate crisis and the green economy over the past 14 years since the first session in 2009.

He hoped to gain relevant technological and financial support within the framework of the forum, with the aim of implementing various plans envisioned in Equatorial Guinea's 2035 National Development Strategy Framework, particularly in terms of environmental sustainability.

Mangue expressed that Equatorial Guinea is committed to addressing climate change at the national level, and is supporting global efforts to ensure and guarantee the sustainable development of human society and the economy.

On behalf of the country with abundant forest resources, he promised to reduce deforestation and collaborate with different countries, international and regional organizations, incorporating the government's political commitment to sustainable development into the national development plans.

With the theme of "Pursuing modernization of harmony between humanity and nature - promoting green and low-carbon development," this year's Eco Forum Global Guiyang held online and offline on July 8-9 has attracted over 2,500 participants, including political figures from home and abroad, leaders of international organizations, research institutions and enterprises playing a leading role in green development.
