On March 3, 67 deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and 35 members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from Southwest China's Guizhou province headed to Beijing for this year's national two sessions.

The third session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC will commence on March 4, while the third session of the 14th NPC will open on March 5.

The NPC deputies and CPPCC members are brimming with confidence as they reflect on the achievements of 2024 and discuss the goals and plans for 2025.

"With the support of various government departments, in 2024, Shuicheng district in Liupanshui city successfully brought winter heating to four high-altitude rural schools. The children there no longer have to endure the cold during winter classes," said Yang Enlan, an NPC deputy and head of the plant protection station at the Shuicheng bureau of agricultural and rural affairs.

Zhang Shunyong, an NPC deputy and general manager of Guizhou Zhangshixing Agricultural Comprehensive Development Co, also brought good news from 2024: "Last year, our honey output exceeded 3 million yuan ($411,427.4) and our cultivation area for traditional Chinese medicinal herbs reached 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares), providing many well-paying jobs for villagers."

Qiu Ninghong, an NPC deputy and professor at Zunyi Vocational and Technical College, believes that vocational education holds great potential. At this year's national two sessions, he plans to submit proposals addressing the shortage of grassroots agricultural technical talent.
