The first Gen-Z (ASEAN-China-Japan-South Korea Youth) Colorful E-Sports Competition and Guizhou University E-Sports League will be held from May to July.
Registration for the competition will open in May. The provincial intercollegiate competitions and invitation tournaments will be held from May to June. The finals will be held during the 2025 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week in July.
Teams can register for either League of Legends (a team-based game) or Valorant (also a team-based game). Around 50 universities are expected to participate in preliminary competitions, with at least 50,000 people in attendance.
The provincial intercollegiate competitions and invitation tournaments will include 80 teams from 40 universities. Qualifying teams will advance to the finals based on regional rankings.
Competition divisions will include overseas, Beijing, and six Guizhou-based zones: Guiyang South, Guiyang North, Zunyi, Liupanshui, and Qiannan.
The competition will integrate e-sports with education, pioneer pathways for talent cultivation in the digital culture industry, drive the development of culture and tourism, and foster innovative synergy between economic growth and educational advancement.
The competition promotes international talent exchanges, nurtures globally oriented, multidisciplinary professionals, and provides a platform for China's university students specializing in e-sports to showcase their skills.
It also encourages domestic educational institutions to prioritize e-sports education by enhancing curriculum development, faculty training, and practical training investments, while fostering international collaborations to innovate educational concepts and methodologies.
