Guiyang, which will host its 2025 Eco Forum Global Guiyang event on July 5-6, has been a major supporter of ecological civilization, making notable advances in environmental protection and international cooperation.
Since 2012, Guiyang's forest coverage has increased from 43.2 percent to 55.3 percent, while the compliance rate for surface water quality at national and provincial monitoring stations has risen from 95.8 percent to 100 percent.
The city has maintained an excellent air quality rate of over 98.9 percent for nearly five consecutive years, earning recognition as a National Ecological Civilization Demonstration Zone and inclusion in the UN's "Natural Cities" Platform.
Committing to ecological priority and green development, Guiyang saw its green economy account for 50.2 percent of its GDP in 2024. The city has optimized its industrial structure, hosting 40 national-level green factories, six green supply chain enterprises, and nine green industrial parks.
The Eco Forum Global Guiyang serves as a vital platform for showcasing Guiyang to the world while deepening exchanges with international cities, with the city having already established sister-city ties with 31 cities worldwide.
Relying on the Belt and Road Initiative, Guiyang attracts foreign investments while expanding its presence abroad, encouraging enterprises to explore global markets and increase trade. Total foreign trade has surged by 113.4 percent since 2012, with an average annual growth of 6.5 percent.
During this year's forum, Guiyang will invite representatives from three international cities to participate in events such as "AI + Green Development" and "Green Development and Industrial Cooperation Among International Sister Cities." These efforts will further strengthen communication and cooperative mechanisms, enabling cities to combine their strengths and broaden collaboration.
