During the 14th China (Guizhou) International Alcoholic Beverages Expo on Sept 9-13, the Exchange and Cooperation Meeting of Alcoholic Beverage Industry between China (Guizhou) and South Africa was held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The meeting aimed to deepen exchanges and cooperation between Guizhou and South Africa in the entire wine industry chain, and promote complementary advantages and joint expansion into the international market.

The South Africa-Guizhou Chamber of Commerce brought 15 South African wineries to participate in the expo. Members of the chamber said they hope that South African wines can enter the Chinese market through the expo, and at the same time, China's Maotai-flavored baijiu can also enter the South African market.

Guizhou and South Africa, although separated by oceans, are connected by wine. South African wines are world-renowned, while Guizhou is the core production area of Maotai-flavored baijiu. Last year, the output value of Guizhou baijiu reached 160 billion yuan ($22.47 billion), and brands such as Kweichow Moutai and Guizhou Xijiu are accelerating their expansion into the world.

Participants said that the two sides have strong potential for cooperation in the fields of market, culture, and investment. They will use the meeting as an opportunity to jointly promote Guizhou baijiu and South African wines in the international market.
