About 35 years ago, a child of a forestry worker in Anshun, Southwest China's Guizhou, stumbled upon a wild seedless cili seedling in the mountains. Through the unremitting efforts of experts such as Zhong Man from the Anshun Forestry Science Institute, a new variety of golden cili, rich in vitamin C, SOD, flavonoids, and other essential nutrients and effective substances for improving body function, was cultivated.
In 2015, the golden cili was granted plant variety rights by the State Forestry Administration. Today, Anshun's golden cili planting area is nearly 80,000 mu (5,333 hectares), making it the world's largest fresh fruit production area for golden cili.
