The 2025 Guizhou Village Dance event kicked off on Dec 27 in Amei Qituo town, Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The event highlighted the charm of Guizhou's multi-ethnic communities through cultural performances, ethnic dance competitions, and public participation.

On the opening day, locals dressed in colorful ethnic costumes paraded through the town, showcasing high-quality local agricultural products alongside their cultural displays.

The ethnic dance competition was a standout highlight, featuring performances from various ethnic groups. The energetic and rhythmic dance routines culminated in a group dance, where both performers and audience members joined in, bringing the festivities to a joyful climax.

Following the launch ceremony, a series of activities from 2026 to 2027 will blend village dance with storytelling and intangible cultural heritage. This innovative approach aims to connect cultural preservation, sports and fitness, agricultural product promotion, and tourism development.

By turning cultural vitality into economic growth, the event seeks to boost farmers' incomes, revitalize rural economies, and ensure the rich traditions of Guizhou's multi-ethnic communities are passed down through dance.
