The CFA Team China International Youth Football Competitions are set to kick off in Zunyi and Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on June 6 and June 9, respectively. The China U23 men's national team will face off against the Tajikistan U23 men's national team.
As a FIFA-certified Class B international high-level event, the competitions are crucial in preparing the Chinese U23 men's national team for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
The Tajikistan youth squad has made rapid strides in recent years, known for its aggressive style, disciplined tactics, and blend of European and Asian football philosophies. These two highly competitive matches will offer young Chinese players a valuable opportunity to refine their technical skills and build mental resilience under pressure.
A series of community events will accompany the tournament, including player escort programs, which will give local youth a chance to walk out onto the field with the teams. The youth matchdays will invite young fans to experience international football live.
Local young coaches and players will also attend the matches to study advanced international training methods and tactical concepts. This initiative aims to boost local coaching standards, strengthen youth academy structures across provincial, municipal, and county levels, and refine the talent pipeline from scouting to elite development.
Zunyi and Guiyang will launch premium sports tourism routes to boost local consumption and increase excitement for the competition.
