A 100-kilogram shipment of sturgeon caviar from Huishui county, Southwest China's Guizhou province, was exported to Japan on May 31.
Huishui boasts a superior ecological environment, where pristine mountain springs provide optimal conditions for sturgeon farming. From ecological aquaculture and meticulous roe selection to curing and packaging, local enterprises adhere to international food safety standards at every step of the process.
Opening export channels is a crucial step for products to enter global markets. In May this year, Guizhou Bertagne Food Co in Huishui obtained registration under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), removing key barriers to exporting Guizhou's deeply processed sturgeon products.
In recent years, Huishui has developed a specialized sturgeon industry relying on its abundant natural resources. It has refined the entire supply chain spanning breeding, processing, and sales to drive standardized and brand-oriented industry growth.
While penetrating the domestic high-end catering market, the county has connected with overseas trade channels to build the "Huishui Caviar" regional specialty brand. These caviar exports mark a major breakthrough in bringing Huishui's distinctive agricultural products onto the international stage and showcase how its ecological resource advantages are being transformed into drivers of economic growth.
