The Colorful Guizhou Art Troupe headed to Malaysia on June 17 to participate in the Festival Orchestra Kuala Lumpur 2026 (FOKL 2026). A delegation of 20 musicians from the Guizhou Chinese Orchestra will present the folk concert, "Folk Reimagined: East in Symphony".

Hosted by Kuala Lumpur City Hall, FOKL 2026 is set to feature over 2,000 participants. The event will bring together renowned international orchestras from China, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, and the Philippines, as well as top-tier Malaysian ensembles.

Featuring traditional Chinese and folk instruments alongside authentic, raw folk singing, the troupe aims to showcase the beauty of Chinese culture and the unique ethnic charm of Guizhou to Malaysian and international audiences.

The concert will present a curated repertoire of 13 pieces that blend traditional Chinese elegance, ethnic distinctiveness, and global aesthetic appeal. The performance includes both Chinese classics and works highlighting Guizhou's intangible cultural heritage, capturing the beauty of the province's landscapes and the rhythms of its local customs.

Committed to promoting, showcasing, and fostering international exchange in traditional Chinese culture and Guizhou's musical heritage, it has staged acclaimed concerts at world-renowned venues, including the Melbourne Recital Centre, the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Concert Hall of the Royal College of Music in London.
