The historical film Crossing, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Long March victory, debuted in theaters nationwide on June 26, with the music video for the film's theme song, The Fording, performed by Zhou Shen, also released.
The film, executive-produced by Andrew Lau and directed by Xu Zhanxiong, features a cast of powerhouse actors, including Liu Ye, Wang Lei, Yu Shi, Wang Zhifei, David Wang, Lin Yongjian, Zhang Li, and Lan Yingying.
The story focuses on the legendary "Four Crossings of the Chishui River", one of the most iconic campaigns in the history of the Long March. The film captures how the Red Army, severely outnumbered and outgunned, relied on strategic brilliance and fearless determination to overcome adversity, telling a compelling story of the Chinese revolution while showcasing Guizhou province's cultural charm and magnificent landscapes.
To ensure historical accuracy, the production team used 32 filming locations and built 107 sets across Guizhou, with the shooting schedule matching the exact seasons of the original campaign, allowing the filmmakers to capture the soldiers' authentic, harsh environmental conditions, from mist-shrouded river valleys to rain-soaked, treacherous mountain trails.
