Players in Taijiang county, Guizhou province, have brought basketball into the pool to cool off during the scorching summer.

Wading through knee-deep water, players did their best to sprint, pass, and shoot while splashing through the pool. With more casual rules, the game offered a refreshing twist on the sport.

Taijiang is home to the popular Village BA, a grassroots basketball tournament that has drawn nationwide attention. The water basketball event, which kicked off in early July this year, has become a local summer tradition, attracting 33 teams and 230 players.
