China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week to be upgraded

The 2026 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week will be held from July 28 to Aug 2 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, featuring three major upgrades.

Moving beyond educational circles, the event will create an ecosystem that brings together universities, enterprises, vocational institutions, trade organizations, and youth associations. Nearly 60 ASEAN business executives will travel to Guizhou for dedicated industrial matchmaking sessions.

The cooperation is shifting from one-way exchanges and outputs to joint development and resource sharing. Among the 60 year-round collaborative projects planned, six are independently initiated, hosted, and implemented locally by universities and educational organizations across ASEAN member states.

The cooperation is also expanding beyond traditional cultural and educational ties into broader cross-industry integration. Digital initiatives such as AI-driven education, smart campus development, and virtual training simulations now account for over one-third of the projects.

Alongside these initiatives, youth cultural exchanges in esports, soccer, and short-video creation are taking off. Industry-education integration is deepening through joint educational equipment development, school-enterprise co-education, and tailored talent programs.

Currently, Guizhou and ASEAN member states enjoy multifaceted cooperation spanning education, sports, culture, tourism, trade, and energy. This cooperation is supported by seven formal sister-city relationships and 16 preliminary sister-city partnerships.
