The Confucius Academy in Guiyang hosted the Chinese Learning of the Heart-Mind and the World – An East Asian Dialogue on Confucianism from Aug 3 to 9.
The event brought together over 30 renowned scholars from China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, as well as Europe and the United States for a week-long high-level academic exchange centered on the annual theme "Heart-Mind and Classical Studies: Inheritance and Intellectual Innovation in East Asian Confucianism".
It included one media briefing, one keynote speech and achievement release session, and 10 academic dialogue sessions.
Beyond academic seminars, the seven-day event featured a rich array of activities, including a field visit to the historic site of Wang Yangming's "Longchang Enlightenment" in Xiuwen county, tracing the cultural origins of Yangmingism in East Asia.
Nearly 30 institutions worldwide have joined the "Chinese Learning of the Heart-Mind and the World" academic alliance since its launch in 2024, when it was jointly initiated by the International Confucian Association and the Confucius Academy in Guiyang. The mechanism has already facilitated international academic seminars and Sino-German philosophical dialogues, drawing extensive media coverage both domestically and internationally.
This year's event further solidifies this alliance mechanism, implements the International Confucian Association's strategic goal of "expanding the international influence of Confucianism", deepens exchanges on the latest Confucian scholarship, fosters cultural consensus, and builds a globally influential platform for the transformation of Yangming culture and the spread of Confucianism.
