Colorful Guizhou Art Troupe debuts in Geneva, Switzerland

A 17-member delegation from the Colorful Guizhou Art Troupe departed from Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Sept 13 for Geneva, Switzerland. They are set to attend the World Trade Organization (WTO) Public Forum 2026 and embark on a series of cultural exchange activities.

From Sept 14 to 18, the troupe will showcase the charm of fine traditional Chinese culture and the unique appeal of Guizhou to a global audience through stage performances, cultural exhibitions, and cultural-tourism promotions.

The delegation began preparations and rehearsals two months ago, selecting 15 programs, including Peking Opera, traditional instrumental ensembles, lusheng (a bamboo reed-pipe instrument) solos, Dong grand songs, Miao flying songs, and traditional toast songs.

During the forum, they will participate in a Chinese culture promotion series, present cultural performances, and take part in a cultural and creative exhibition, featuring distinctive items such as Guizhou silver ornaments and Miao embroidery.

Using art as a universal language and culture as a bridge for friendship, Guizhou's artists will share China's story and highlight the province's unique identity through cultural exchanges, carrying the voice of Guizhou across mountains and oceans.
