19th PhotoChina intl photography exhibition opens in Guizhou

The 2026 Colorful Guizhou: 19th PhotoChina Original International Photography Exhibition kicked off on Sept 28 in Hongjiang village, Libo county, Southwest China's Guizhou province, under the theme "Sojourning in the Light and Shadow of Guizhou".

As the world's only photography event dedicated to pristine ecology and indigenous culture, it has documented Guizhou's landscapes and heritage through imagery since its inception in 2008.

Moving beyond traditional landscape photography, this year's exhibition centers on extended stays and slow-paced living, spanning cultural heritage, natural landscapes, outdoor sports, health and wellness, local daily life, and transportation development, showcasing Guizhou's ongoing transition from a quick transit stop to a destination for long-term travel.

Two major special exhibitions debuted alongside the main event: the "Human Memory" China World Heritage Photography Exhibition (Guizhou Tour) brings together imagery of World Heritage sites from across the country, while the "Shared Radiance of the Silk Road" Central Asian Photography Invitation Exhibition features works by photographers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, using imagery to build cultural bonds and promote people-to-people connections between Guizhou and Central Asia.

The exhibition also includes an intra-provincial tour to Longjing village in Guiyang and a domestic tour to the EKA Tianwu Creative Park in Shanghai.

An overseas tour will take place in Kyrgyzstan, using photography to advance the Belt and Road Initiative, showcase Guizhou's natural beauty, culture, and development achievements to Central Asia, and promote practical cooperation in culture and tourism.
