Guizhou athlete advances to Asian Games boxing semifinals

Guizhou athlete Yang Chengyu has advanced to the semifinals of the women's 60kg boxing at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after securing a 5:0 victory against Filipino boxer Nesthy Petecio in the quarterfinals on Sept 28 at the Nishio City Gymnasium in Japan.

Taking on Petecio – a two-time Olympic medalist with silver in Tokyo and bronze in Paris – Yang kept her nerves in check, stepping into the ring with a fearless, all-out attitude.

After shaking off any early jitters in the Round of 16, Yang found her stride and carried her aggressive momentum into this match, staying on the front foot and controlling the pace to sweep all five judges' scorecards.

Next, she will face Indian boxer Priya Gangas in the semifinal as she pushes for a spot in the final.
