Over 2,000 swimmers from across 102 teams gathered on Oct 17 at Wujiang River in Yanhe county, Southwest China's Guizhou province, for the 3rd Guizhou-Yanhe Open Water Swimming Invitational.

The tournament featured a 400-meter cross-current race, a 5,000-meter individual challenge, and a 5,000-meter leisure swim. Balancing high-level competition with mass participation, the event drew swimmers ranging from 18 to 70 years old.

In recent years, Yanhe has pioneered an integrated development model along the Wujiang River that combines sports, cultural tourism, and wellness. By cultivating the swimming invitational into a signature event, the county is using its natural ecological assets to boost tourism, community prosperity, and rural vitalization.
