Standing over the Nanming River in the center of Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, Jiaxiu Tower is a symbol of Guiyang, witnessing the city's history and ongoing development. It was listed as an important heritage site under State protection by the State Council in 2006.

The tower was first built in 1598 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to honor the first scholar of the time and encourage more scholars to follow his example. So far, the tower has been reconstructed six times.

The magnificent, three-story pavilion is around 20 meters high and has upturned eaves supported by 12 stone columns and protected by white carved stone rails.

Looking like a dragon lying on the water, the 90-meter Fuyu Bridge is the perfect spot for visitors to enjoy the scenery around the tower. Attached to the Hanbi Pavilion, the bridge passes through the tower and Hanbi Pond and is embellished with the Shuiyue Platform. To the south of the bridge is the Cuiwei Tower – another historic beauty for visitors to admire.
