Southwest China's Guizhou province saw a 21.3 percent growth in foreign trade in the first 10 months of the year, higher than the national average of 20.2 percent and ranking second in the country.

According to local authorities, the province's total import and export value reached 43.3 billion yuan ($6.62 billion) in the period, up by 21.3 percent over the same period last year.

Among the total, exports posted 35.6 billion yuan, up by 39.8 percent year-on-year, ranking first in the country.

The province is actively participating in constructing the national Belt and Road Initiative and building a multimodal transport system linking the northern and southern parts of Guizhou.

The China-Europe freight train services connect Chongqing with Europe and Central Asia, and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor via the Beibu Gulf links it with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Middle East and Africa. Guizhou province is linked with both trade routes.

According to customs officials in Guiyang's provincial capital, authorities have been improving the local business environment and helping enterprises go global through various measures.

Laoganma, a famous brand of chili sauce made in Guiyang, Guizhou Liyang Aero-Engine Corp and Gui Tea Group were among the beneficiaries of the authorities' efforts to support local companies' foreign trade.

Official statistics showed that from 2018 to May 2020, the export value of agricultural products from the province was about $1.5 billion, which were sold to 67 countries and regions.

Wine, tea and tobacco account for a large proportion of the exports and the export of products from traditional agricultural industries maintains a strong momentum.

Gui Tea Group, which boasts the world's largest monomer matcha refining workshop and the largest tea cold storage in Guizhou, has an annual production capacity of nearly 4,000 tons of high-quality matcha.

The company's European-standard matcha, ruby red tea, emerald green tea and other high-quality products sell well in all parts of the country and are exported to more than 10 countries and regions.

Xu Qian, chairman of the group, said the company would invest in technological innovation and basic research and help more tea makers expand their products' global presence and promote Guizhou's tea brands.
