Guizhou now home to 11 high-tech industrial zones

According to the provincial science and technology department on Feb 20, Southwest China's Guizhou province now possesses 11 high-tech industrial development zones, including two national-level ones and nine provincial-level ones.

Various market entities of innovation and entrepreneurship, such as technology R&D platforms and innovation service institutes, have emerged in the development zones.

Currently, Guizhou's high-tech industrial development zones cater to a range of industries: high-end equipment manufacturing, electronic information, medicine, new materials, light industry, modern services, cultural creativity, agricultural product processing and new energy.

The diversity of industries represented in the province's tech zones has helped form a modern industrial system.

In 2020, there were 502 high-tech companies in high-tech industrial development zones, occupying 26.5 percent of Guizhou's total high-tech companies.

The high-tech industrial development zones also had 179 key labs, engineering labs and engineering technology research centers above the provincial level.

In the future, Guizhou's provincial science and technology department will enhance support for projects and boost funding and personnel numbers for high-tech industrial development zones. The department will also improve the environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, cultivate high-tech companies, and enhance high-tech industries' development.
