The National People's Congress (NPC) delegation from Southwest China's Guizhou province held a plenary meeting on March 6 in Beijing to review the 14 Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for Economic and Social Development and the draft of the Social Development and Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035.

The NPC deputies believe that the plan and the draft are essential for high-quality development and the realization of shared prosperity. During the past year, China has successfully controlled the spread of the novel coronavirus, achieved success in poverty-alleviation and become the only country to realize positive economic growth among the world's major economic entities.

Guizhou will take high-quality development as the priority to enhance its poverty-alleviation achievements while revitalizing rural areas, develop an ecological civilization and prevent and handle major risks.

Guizhou's NPC deputies also delivered speeches on the work plans for promoting rural revitalization through ethnic culture development, supporting people relocated from impoverished areas, developing the digital economy, increasing people's incomes by developing featured industries, and realizing a new model of industrialization.
