Avoid summer heat at Guizhou's cool resorts

Southwest China's Guizhou province provides many ways to avoid the summer heat. Check out this tourism route and enjoy Guizhou's cool waters.

The route includes Guiyang city's Fengyegu water park, Guiding county's Luobei River, Fuquan city's Gebang River, Duyun city's Doupeng Mountain, Pingtang county's Jiacha scenic area, and Libo county's Daqikong and Xiaoqikong scenic areas, Shuichun River, and Maolan Karst Virgin Forest.

The Fengyegu water park in Guiyang's Wudang district is Guizhou's first large scenic water park. It boasts a number of recreational activities to partake in with friends and family.

Luobei River in Guiding county, Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, is known for its wild waters. Since 1998, the river has received about 1 million tourists and is known as one of the four major drifting destinations in Guizhou.

The 6.5-kilometer Gebang River in Xianqiao township, Fuquan city, Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture also provides a number of challenging drifting opportunities.

Duyun city's Doupeng Mountain is known as the highest mountain in Qiannan and covers an area of more than 100 square kilometers. It is named for its cloak-like shape.

Doupeng Mountain's main peak has an elevation of 1,961 meters and features natural views of mountains, canyons, karst caves, brooks, and waterfalls. Nearly 90 percent of the mountain is covered in virgin forest, endowing it with pleasant weather in both winter and summer.

The Jiacha scenic area is located in Pingtang county's Jiacha village. Its warm and humid weather endows it with unique subtropical scenery, and tourists can enjoy the view of mountains, water bodies, waterfalls, caves, bamboo, and stones.

Libo county's Xiaoqikong scenic area, which literally means "bridge with seven little arches" in Chinese, is also known as one of the most beautiful areas in China. Its one-kilometer-wide and 12-km-long canyon offers a variety of landscapes.

Tourists can also drift at Libo's Shuichun River or enjoy the views of mountains and rivers at Maolan Karst Virgin Forest, which is located in Libo as well.
