Methods to counteract illegal behavior that threatens to undermine the lucrative tourism sector were the subject of a recent meeting held in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The overall goal reportedly was to improve the business and consumer environment of the tourism industry.

The illicit acts include misleading consumers, illegal tourism shopping, coercive business transactions, swindling, blackmail, tax evasion, illegal car operations and arrears in the wages of tour guides.

The meeting stressed that Guizhou's government departments should cooperate to enforce the law and make secret investigations to regulate the tourism market.

It also heard that government departments at all levels should continue to improve tourism services, release regulation results promptly and create a fair and honest tourism market environment.
